I was born in Northern England in 1963.

I have owned many pets in the last 40+ years, however I have a particular liking for lizards. Especially Green Chinese Water Dragons and Australian Bearded Dragons.

 

 My Bearded Dragon

The first Lizards I bought where 2 Water Dragons. With a little help (a lot really) I built my own custom designed Vivarium. It was 6 feet high, 183cm, 4 feet wide, 122cm, and 2 feet deep, 61cm. I used 2 x 5% UVB strip lights. 1 in the top section and 1 in the bottom section. Each section was 3 feet tall, 91cm, with a piece of floor cut out of the top section so that the Lizards could go into either section. I used 2 x ceramic heaters and 2 x low voltage tube heaters.

I was originally going to buy an Iguana, but after speaking to a reptile expert I was convinced that Water Dragons would be better as my first lizards. I am glad that I listened to that advice and I get a lot of pleasure from caring for my Dragons.

My son’s where both very excited over our new pet’s and soon learned how to handle them safely. The Lizards were always the first things that they showed there visiting friends.

My Water Dragons did not like living together and the smaller of the two had the end of his tail bitten by his mate. So I filled in the hole in the upper section of the vivarium and made the Vivarium into 2 separate enclosures. I did this on the advice of an expert.

I later bought a Bearded Dragon and he had his own vivarium. He was only about 4 inches, 10cm, long when I got him, but he seemed to grow very quickly and soon reached 22 inches, 56 cm. He has always been very friendly and likes to be handled, he likes to have his chin/neck rubbed gently.

I’ve tried several website providers in the past, but have never actually got to this stage before. I am looking forward to working on this site for many years to come.
